State three adaptations of an insect-pollinated flower.
Pollination and Fertilisation
Original Khojo Papers practice question — not from a past board paper.
A pollen grain landing on a compatible stigma germinates and puts out a pollen tube that grows down the style, carrying two male gametes. The tube enters the ovule through the micropyle and releases the gametes. One fuses with the egg cell to form the zygote and the other with the polar nuclei to form the endosperm. The ovule then becomes the seed and the ovary the fruit.

The fusion of two gametes at two places is called double fertilisation.
