The Bandung Conference of 1955 brought together twenty-nine newly independent Afro-Asian countries in Indonesia. It condemned colonialism and racialism, called for economic and cultural cooperation among the developing countries and for world peace and disarmament, and adopted ten principles based on Panchsheel. It prepared the ground for the Non-Aligned Movement founded at Belgrade six years later.
