Nervous System
Original Khojo Papers practice question — not from a past board paper.
A synapse is the junction between the axon ending of one neuron and the dendrite of the next, with a narrow gap between them. When the impulse reaches the ending, a chemical neurotransmitter is released into the gap, diffuses across and sets up a new impulse in the next neuron.
No citable source has been recorded for this record. Treat it as practice material, not as fact.
Because the transmitter is released on one side only, the synapse makes conduction one-way.
