Name three respiratory disorders and state the cause of each.
Breathing and Exchange of Gases
Original Khojo Papers practice question — not from a past board paper.
The oxygen dissociation curve plots the percentage saturation of haemoglobin against the partial pressure of oxygen, and it is sigmoid. A rise in carbon dioxide, a fall in pH, a rise in temperature and a rise in 2,3-diphosphoglycerate all shift it to the right, so oxygen is released more readily in the tissues.
No citable source has been recorded for this record. Treat it as practice material, not as fact.
The shift caused by carbon dioxide and pH is called the Bohr effect.
